A single session of Hypnotherapy has been shown to impact not only beliefs and feelings positively but alter the expression of 15 genes that enhance stem cell activity and reduce cellular stress and inflammation. (Rossi et al, 2008) A recent study by Monash university showed hypnotherapy was just as effective at reducing symptoms of IBS when complared to people undertaking a low FODMAP diet. Participants in the trial who underwent hypnosis also showed a reduction in anxiety.
In 1970, Alfred A. Barrios, Ph.D. conducted a survey of scientific literature to compare recovery rates for various modalities of therapy:
Psychoanalysis can be expected to have a 38% recovery rate after approximately 600 sessions.
Behavior therapy (Wolpian) can be expected to have a 72% recovery rate after an average of 22 sessions.
Hypnotherapy can be expected to have a 93% recovery rate after an average of 6 sessions

Emotional Freedom Technique, (EFT) combines the tapping of acupressure points with the fingers and elements of mindfulness, exposure therapy, EMDR and CBT. EFT has recently been shown in a pilot study to regulate over 70 genes involved in immune function, tumour supression, insulin regulation and inflammation in just a single session. (Maharaj, M. E. 2016) EFT has been clinically shown to reduce anxiety, PTSD, OCD symptoms, pain and aid weight management.
